PUTRIDARIUM
Dissemination ’22 (2022)

The squalid abyss is boiling again as Putridarium squirms within its foul lair and strangles us once more with its hideous tentacles of doom. If there’s a band out there in the death / doom realm that I crave a full-length release from it is these German mongers of muck. But for now we have to make do with another fetid pile of demo destruction, and as expected the reek of this thing is nasty – a cloying nostril-blocking mucous of slurping, turgid grimness.

From the opening ooze of ‘Corpse Disembodied’ to the closing ‘Otherworldly Slime’, Putridarium once again cavorts and revels in its own congealed bodily fluids to create a lumbering, clotted mass of gory pulp and infected stodge. ‘Necrophilic Impetus’ and ‘Postmortal Defloration’ both leak as muddy, bloodied droplets of rust onto an already bloated cadaver that slowly discharges foul stenches and bulbous veins to the soundtrack of slow, fat and rank riffage that may occasionally quicken while remaining damp, sodden and humidly pitiful.

With each release, this gang of the demented explores even further depths as with gory hands they claw into the earth to seek out even lower levels of despondency and darkness. There’s no hope here, just suffocating blackness and fumes of soot and sick encapsulated by those dull percussive thuds and tones of heavyweight clay.

In a place bereft of light and air, Putridarium lines the dripping walls with your flesh and from such grisly constructions hammers and paws away to create its own miserable cacophony. There aren’t many sounds that conjure up such images of dread and despair.

For those of you interested, the Dissemination ’22 demo is available here.
