Norwegian metal group Abbath have parted ways with bassist King Ov Hell (real name: Tom Cato Visnes) following a three-year tenure, the development being revealed on June 11th, 2018.

An official statement read: “King will no longer be part of Abbath due to conflicting views on lyrical concepts of the upcoming album. The lyrics are inspired by Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Gustav Jung. King finds that Jung’s connection to Christian mysticism is incompatible with the image of the band.”

King Ov Hell commented: “I wish members of the actual band, label, and crew all the best for the upcoming shows and album. The music itself is nothing short of brilliant. However, I must maintain artistic integrity and respectfully step aside.”

Abbath are in the process of working on a second full-length studio album, as referenced.

King Ov Hell was part of Abbath since their formation, which was announced on March 26th, 2015. Abbath’s inaugural line-up was revealed a month later, on April 22nd.

A self-titled debut studio record was released in January 2016 via Season Of Mist.
