DECAYING IN SCORN
Celestial Impalement (2023)

It’s time for another one-man project, and in this case it’s Polish dude Nebiros (also of Incertus, Mystic Rites and Thorns Of Grief) and a debut three-track offering that comes choking on the sick of bands such as Repulsion and Autopsy as those gore-soaked punky dynamics are seen bathing alongside the scabby, down-tuned aesthetics.

This is pretty simple yet savage stuff as the creator pukes up that fast-paced, rattling tumult of morbidity. The vocal style of Nebiros is the familiar choking rasps, and there are those macabre leads which attempt to infiltrate the fog.

‘Bleeding Carcase’ is bog standard in its worship, but entertaining all the same where the mid-tempo shifts bring plenty of dankness to their strides, while ‘Spawned In Chaos’ ripples like some clogged furnace starting up, but again it’s infectious and rank in design as the swirls of foul air encircle it all before the title track closes proceedings.

As expected, there is plenty of aggression here, while the veil you view it all through is very much swarming with flies and scabbed. It is standard sickness when it comes to Decaying In Scorn, but enjoyable in spite of its limitations and fog.
