AT WAR
Eat Lead (1985)

Formed at the beginning of 1984, At War are a power metal trio from the outskirts of Virginia Beach who consist of Paul Arnold on bass and vocals, Shawn Helsel on guitar and Dave Stone on drums.

Showing distinctive Venom influences, the band’s first demo contains two numbers – ‘Rapechase’ and ‘Eat Lead’ – which both contain frantic riffing and blistering soloing topped with a growling vocal performance; all good stuff.

The pace of ‘Rapechase’ is so fast that the drumming loses its way slightly, but is more than adequate on the title track, ‘Eat Lead’.

At War will soon be featured on the Speed Metal compilation album that’s being put out by New Renaissance Records.
