SABATON Release Seventh Studio Album ‘Heroes’
May 16th, 2014

Falun, Sweden-based power metal group Sabaton issued seventh studio full-length album Heroes on May 16th, 2014 through Nuclear Blast Records.

The outing marked the first Sabaton release to feature erstwhile Evergrey member Hannes Van Dahl behind the drumkit.

Heroes was recorded with producer Peter Tägtgren at The Abyss in Ludvika, Sweden. Mixing duties also fell to Peter Tägtgren, while mastering was handled by Jonas Kjellgren.

Cover artwork was created by Péter Sallai.

Heroes was released in jewelcase CD format, as a vinyl version (different colours), as a limited edition digipak CD (featuring two bonus tracks), as a limited earbook (including five bonus tracks), and a digital download (with one bonus track). The bonus tracks in question were; ‘7734’, ‘Man Of War’, ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’ (Metallica cover), ‘En Hjältes Väg’ (Raubtier cover), and ‘Out Of Control’ (Battle Beast cover).

In its first week of release, Heroes sold roughly 3,100 copies in the United States, landing at position 99 on the Billboard 200. Also, the record landed at #1 in Sweden, at #2 in Finland, at #3 in Germany, at #4 in the Czech Republic, at #6 in Poland, at #7 in Switzerland, at #11 in Austria, at #13 in Norway, and at #59 in the United Kingdom. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) awarded Heroes Gold certification for Swedish sales in excess of 20,000 copies.

Directed by Owe Lingvall, a music video was filmed for the track ‘To Hell And Back’, while Yarn Hub-created animated story videos were issued for the songs ‘Night Witches’ and ‘No Bullets Fly’. In addition, official lyric videos were released for ‘To Hell And Back’, ‘Resist And Bite’ (two separate versions), ‘Night Witches’, ‘No Bullets Fly’, ‘Inmate 4859’, ‘The Ballad Of Bull’, ‘Soldier Of 3 Armies’, ‘Far From The Fame’ and ‘Hearts Of Iron’. Sixth studio record Carolus Rex was released in May 2012 via Nuclear Blast.
