ARCH ENEMY Premiere ‘The Race’ Music Video
October 17th, 2017

Melodic death metal group Arch Enemy have filmed a music video for the track ‘The Race’. Once again directed by Patric Ullaeus, the clip can be viewed below.

Founding member Michael Amott commented: “This was actually the last song written for the Will To Power album. Listening through all the material we had up to that point we agreed that the album needed one more song that would be a relentless and fast paced counterpoint to some of the more epic compositions we already had. We sent Alissa [White-Gluz, vocals] the music and she came up with a thought provoking set of lyrics with an intense vocal arrangement that complemented the music perfectly. We’ve been having a blast playing this song on the current tour and we had our video director Patric Ullaeus come out to capture the mayhem at our recent show in Helsinki, Finland… Enjoy ‘The Race’!”

Arch Enemy issued tenth full-length studio album Will To Power on September 8th, 2017 through Century Media Records.

The second track-by-track breakdown video for the album has been released and can also be viewed below.

Will To Power was co-produced by guitarist Michael Amott and drummer Daniel Erlandsson, while mixing and mastering was handled by long time collaborator Jens Bogren.

The band have made their cover of Skitslickers’ ‘The Leader (Of The Fuckin’ Assholes)’ available for streaming through YouTube, which can be accessed below. The track is featured on the Råpunk EP, which will be included in the limited edition deluxe box set version of Will To Power. The original version of ‘The Leader (Of The Fuckin’ Assholes)’ by Swedish hardcore punk band Skitslickers (aka The Shitlickers) was released in 1982.

The outing will mark the first Arch Enemy studio platter to feature erstwhile Nevermore guitarist Jeff Loomis, who joined the fold in November 2014.

Cover artwork was designed by Alex Reisfar.

Michael Amott commented: “It was a pleasure working with Alex Reisfar on the Will To Power cover artwork, he immediately grasped the concept and atmosphere we were looking for with this album. We talked about the double edged sword that is human ambition, how it can be outstandingly creative and beautiful but can also be turned into something dark and powerful. Alex proceeded to masterfully paint a strong image that evokes a lot of feelings.

“The human skull as a central focal point, the flesh sort of falling off into the circular pattern. The snake ouroboros weaving in and out of the mouths and throats of the severed heads of a wolf, a goat and a vampire bat… All representing self determination and a predatory, almost parasitic will to power.”
