December 22nd, 2017

Mário Linhares, vocalist with Brazilian power metal band Dark Avenger, died from heart failure on December 22nd, 2017 at the age of 45.

The band’s Italian-based label Rockshots Records issued the following statement: “With heavy heart and deep sadness we must confirm that Dark Avenger’s founder and singer Mário Linhares has passed away yesterday, December 22nd.

“The world has lost one of the most talented singer and person, an incredible voice that will last forever in our hearts. It was an honour and a gift to work together, and we were lucky enough to meet and share some unforgettable moments with him, here at Rockshots headquarters.

“Upon all, he was an incredible person sincerely in love with life and music, generous and kind as rarely happens in business and everyday life. His legacy won’t be forgotten, and we’ll do everything possible to spread it all around as a proof of how rare and immortal his talent was.

“Our sincere condolences to his family, his beloved wife Désirée and all the guys in Dark Avenger.”

Mário Linhares was born on June 1st, 1972 and co-founded Dark Avenger in 1993, appearing on all four of the band’s full-length studio albums to-date; Dark Avenger (1995), Tales Of Avalon: The Terror (2001), Tales Of Avalon: The Lament (2013) and The Beloved Bones: Hell (2017).

During a Dark Avenger hiatus, Linhares also formed the power metal combo Harllequin in 2005. Harllequin released two full-length studio records; Archangel Asylum (2008) and Hellakin Riders (2012).
