Katy Scary is the name and black thrash is the game on the four-song debut offering from this Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based act. This EP is the work of one person and comes chock full of ripping riffs, some nice melodic solos and scratchy vocal snaps. Paying homage to the first and second wave black metal torrents, Absolute Fucking Terror is 13 minutes of sniping metal where the riffs come to the fore as catchy yet abrasive slaps.
‘I Am The Blood’, ‘The Worm’, ‘Broken Vessel’ and ‘Into The Mouth Of Azathoth’ are pretty standard practices but there is a crispness and bite to proceedings here, although the seriousness of it all is somewhat let down by the rather cheesy forest music video for ‘The Worm’. Even so, Absolute Fucking Terror remains a potent EP for black metal purists and the like who dig infectious guitar work and bewitching vocal melodies.
