PUTRID
All That We Hate

Godz Ov War Productions (2025)
Rating: 6/10

This Peruvian gang are one of a zillion bands with the Putrid moniker. To an extent, the band name doesn’t necessarily fit the sound because one might expect something dismal and deathly here. However, this particular Putrid is very much a well established black thrash death act that’s been on the circuit for 15 years.

This new 11 track outing is only the band’s third full-length studio outing and is another raw and chaotic opus as utterly wild leads fizz through a frenzied wall of torment. This is thrashing black-death at its extreme, a hostile format summed up by the primitive cacophony that is ‘Rape Lamb Of God’. The guitar is a wall of excitable flame, constantly dancing in maniacal fashion. ‘Embrace The Hole Of Truth’ is similarly savage, a frantic thrash blitz so savage that one has to take a few steps back in preparation for the blizzard.

There’s a strong sulfuric stench of the 80s South American underground with every vocal gasp as guitarist Evil Avatar channels his demonic rasps through a blaze of archaic and corpse-painted predecessors. ‘Black Metal War Against Antifa Scum’ and ‘Vileness’ are horrid expressions, rattling black metal, but for a slice of surprise the cover of Nirvana’s ‘Tourette’s’ may interest some.

In spite of the violent nature of this record it’s difficult to ignore the cheesier moments, particularly on opener ‘A Headbanger Queer’ with its childish lyrics, but then there’s ‘Hatred’ which boasts a killer mid-paced melody. Very much a consistently noisy album, All That We Hate is a violent force of nature with a strong black metal aesthetic that’s as diabolically daft as it is deadly.
