PUTRESCENT
Inhuman Infestation EP

Inhuman Infestation is the debut EP from Los Angeles, California-based band Putrescent, a miserable quartet that has conjured up one of my favourite releases of the year so far.
Guttural, grim, and doomy, the opening track ‘Obscure Putrescent Growls Of Death’ sums up what the sound is; a macabre dredging drool of dense riffage that oozes like sewage, and dense percussive thuds that run in silted combat with mouldy bass lines. The whole slogging horror is dragged further into those repugnant swamps by the sick, slurping vocals. Speedier segments emerge with a sound akin to one’s own bowels being excreted and flushed. ‘Sepulchral Desecration’ combines further flurries of fermented gore with slower, clogging bulbousness.
Inhuman Infestation is an EP that drips with a foul, congealed brilliance, remaining gloomy and gloopy as if each putrid chord is strained through a sieve to reveal clotted lumps. Succumb to a session with Putrescent and your eyeballs will leak sediment, your mouth will ooze with lung syrup and your ears will turn inwards into your mashed brain.
