WHITESNAKE Release ‘The Purple Album’
May 15th, 2015

Hard rock group Whitesnake issued The Purple Album on May 15th, 2015 through Frontiers Music Srl. The label scheduled North American release for May 19th.

The outing consists of re-recorded versions of tracks vocalist David Coverdale originally sang as a member of Deep Purple, specifically on 1974 studio records Burn and Stormbringer as well as 1975’s Come Taste The Band.

The Purple Album was made available in the following formats; standard edition, deluxe edition featuring two bonus tracks, four music videos and a behind-the-scenes featurette on the recording of the effort, and double LP vinyl format.

In its first week of release, The Purple Album sold roughly 6,900 copies in the United States, landing at position 84 on The Billboard 200 chart. In addition, the effort charted in Japan (#8), Finland (#9), Switzerland (#11), Germany (#13), Czech Republic (#17), Sweden (#18), the United Kingdom (#18), the Netherlands (#24), and Norway (#34).
