SMACKBOUND Release Debut Studio Album 20/20
June 12th, 2020

Finnish melodic metal band Smackbound issued debut full-length studio album 20/20 on June 12th, 2020 through Frontiers Music Srl.

Netta Laurenne commented: “It is a versatile album with music for all moods. The songs are melodic and have a great drive. We are trying to clear out the clutter from our hearts and heads and hope that the same process will happen to everyone listening to the album. It is all about energy in this world and we are trying to keep that energy alive and moving so that it would reach the listener and have a true impact and a connection with them.

“More on the musical side, everyone invested their own talent to the album. Teemu [Mäntysaari, (guitar] played great riffs and solos, Rolf [Pilve, drums] banged the drums like no tomorrow and Vili [Itäpelto, keyboards] and Tuomas [Yli-Jaskari, bass] played some pretty awesome stuff as well. I poured my heart into the lyrics and tried to sing the songs with grace.”

20/20 was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland and produced by Tuomas Yli-Jaskari. Mixing duties fell to Jesse Vainio at Mofo Music in Espoo, Finland, while mastering was handled by Svante Forsbäck at Chartmakers West, also in Espoo.

02. ‘Drive It Like You Stole It’

Speaking about ‘Wind And Water’, vocalist Netta Laurenne said: “It is a song about a sacred love towards another soul. It is a love affair you have seemingly lost in this physical world, but keep feeling as infinite. To me, it’s saying: I love you in this life and the next.”

An official lyric video was created for the song ‘Run’, meanwhile. In addition, filmed and edited by Topias Kupiainen at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, a 47-minute live session video was released in which the band performed several songs from the new album.
