April 6th, 2015

American heavy metal group Skid Row parted ways with vocalist Johnny Solinger and recruited former TNT frontman Tony Harnell, revealing this development on April 6th, 2015.

Johnny Solinger issued the following statement: “I have decided to leave Skid Row to pursue my solo career. The past 15 years has been a great experience and I have appreciated the opportunity to be the lead singer in one of the most prominent bands of the 1990s and share stages with the likes of Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and Kiss, performing in front of millions throughout the world. I wish Skid Row the best of luck in their future pursuits.”

Founding guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo shared the following words, meanwhile: “We had a lot of great times together and created a lot of great music. We wish him nothing but the best.”

Co-founder and bassist Rachel Bolan added the following: “Sometimes things just end. People go in different directions and grow apart and you have to make a decision. He will always be our brother.”

With respect to Tony Harnell being recruited, guitarist Scotti Hill offered the following: “Tony’s experience, power and undeniable range made our decision an easy one.”

Harnell himself issued the following statement: “I’m so excited and honoured to be a part of such a great band with an amazing legacy and legions of faithful fans! The guys and I have known each other for many years and this is such a natural fit. I look forward to getting out there and playing live together and being a part of making new music and creating our future together. It’s time to rock!”

Skid Row parted ways with original vocalist Sebastian Bach in 1996, eventually reforming in 1999 with Solinger at the helm. Between 2003 and 2015, the Solinger-led Skid Row issued two full-length studio albums (2003’s Thickskin and 2006’s Revolutions Per Minute) and two EPs (2013’s United World Rebellion: Chapter One and 2014’s Rise Of The Damnation Army – United World Rebellion: Chapter Two).

Harnell, meanwhile, joined Norwegian power metal ensemble TNT in 1984, fronting the outfit intermittently over a 30-year period which saw the release of eight studio albums featuring him at the helm.
