NEAERA Release Music Video For ‘Deathless’ Track
June 23rd, 2020

Münster, Germany-based melodic death metal group Neaera have released a music video for the track ‘Deathless’. Featuring live footage filmed at the band’s release show for their latest self-titled album in Münster on February 29th, the clip can be viewed below.

Speaking about the song, singer Benjamin Hilleke said: “One of the songs on our current album is called ‘Deathless’, which deals with the topic of sexualised violence. According to UNIFEM [a part of UN Women] it is estimated that 35 per cent of women worldwide have experienced either physical and / or sexual intimate partner violence or sexual violence by a non-partner (not including sexual harassment) at some point in their lives.

“For anyone affected, we would like to hint at the following organizations:

– Unwomen.org
– the help line of the Federal Office for Family Affairs
– Zartbitter .e.V. with whom we have already been able to work together in the past thanks to your helpfulness.”

Neaera issued their self-titled seventh full-length studio album on February 28th, 2020 through Metal Blade Records.

The outing can be streamed in its entirety via YouTube below.

Following a 2015 farewell tour, Neaera regrouped to play two exclusive shows during 2018. “We have been overwhelmed by the reactions,” commented vocalist Benjamin Hilleke. “None of us was expecting that and it was the moment when the fire was de-fact again!”

A little while later, guitarist Tobias Buck started to come up with new song ideas. “I just really got up to it again and met directly with our friend and later producer Trisan Hachmeister to record a few things in his studio for testing purposes,” Tobias explained. “The other guys were immediately fished-on from the first auditions. A few months later, we sat down together at one table and decided to record another album together.”

Drums were recorded in the Docma Klang Studio in Osnabrück (where the band’s demo was recorded in 2004).

Mixing and mastering as handled by Jacob Hansen. “Hansen already did a great job with our albums Let The Tempest Come and Armamentarium,” said Buck. “This is exactly the sound we wanted to have back on this album.”

Cover artwork duties fell to Terje Johnsen, who also handled the art for 2007’s Armamentarium, 2009’s Omnicide – Creation Unleashed, and 2010’s Forging The Eclipse.
