Former DEATH Bassist Scott Clendenin Dies Aged 47
March 24th, 2015

Scott Clendenin, erstwhile bassist for defunct Tampa, Florida-based death metal group Death, passed away on March 24th, 2015 at the age of 47.

Eric Greif, the former manager of Death and president of Perseverance Holdings Ltd., which manages Chuck Schuldiner’s (late Death / Control Denied guitarist and vocalist) estate, issued the following statement: “With a sense of shock, I’m letting all of you know of the passing today of former Death bassist Scott Clendenin. Scott had some health challenges in the last few years but was optimistic about his prospects. Of course he was the skilled player on The Sound Of Perseverance Death album (1998), and recently participated in two DTA (Death To All) live runs, in 2012 and 2013, including the highlight of his acoustic guitar in a poignant rendition of ‘Voice Of The Soul’. Our thoughts go out to Scott’s family at this difficult time.”

Clendenin also played in Chuck Schuldiner’s side project Control Denied between 1997 and 1999.

A memorial service for Scott Clendenin was held on March 29th, 2015 in the Valicenti Pavilion at Sand Point Park in Titusville, Florida.
