EL CACO To Release Eighth Studio Album ‘Uncelebration’
April 19th, 2023

Lillestrøm, Norway-based stoner rock band El Caco issue eighth full-length studio album Uncelebration on April 21st, 2023 through Indie Recordings.

“It doesn’t feel like seven years has passed since our last release because we wrote and created music the entire time, but we gave ourselves space on Uncelebration,” El Caco commented. “We would meet up at rehearsals and work out the basic structure of a song. When that was settled the three of us would go our separate ways and continue to work on parts individually in different studios.”

The recording process of Uncelebration diverged from that of previous releases, with the finished album being recorded in four different studios. Drums were recorded at Snakehips by Ronny Janssen, bass, keyboards, and percussion at Stop Knocking Studio by Fredrik Wallumrød, guitars by Anders Gjesti at Oganesh Studios Unlimited, and vocals at Studio 33 by Daniel Bergstrand.

“There hasn’t been a lot to celebrate these last couple of years,” El Caco said. “Neither in the general world order, nor on a personal level. Uncelebration was born out of this, something which is reflected both in lyrics and in the album theme. The title itself felt like a given description of the current situation. As for the sound, we always seek to evolve, but it is still unmistakably El Caco, After all, we are still the same three people, how we write and the how we play was settled long ago.”

The track listing is as follows:

01. ‘The Taste Of Wine’
02. ‘All In Favour’
03. ‘The Contortionist’
04. ‘Inventor’
05. ‘Pockets’
06. ‘Oxygen Loss’
07. ‘Losing it All’
08. ‘Uncelebrated’
09. ‘In Pieces’

El Caco’s line-up is as follows:

Øyvind Osa (vocals and bass)
Anders Gjesti (guitars)
Fredrik Wallumrød (drums)

Directed by Jørn Veberg, a music video was filmed for the track ‘Inventor’. “When every possible way to fix a problem is tried and you have started inventing your own solutions, and it all turns out wrong, then in the end you are facing yourself,” El Caco said. “The song and melody is kinda catchy and the vocals rather dark, but it gives the lyrics a nice wrapping.”

In addition, an official lyric video was created for the song ‘All In Favour’. “Sometimes when you’re making music the song releases an energy that makes you bounce and groove immediately,” El Caco said. “‘All In Favour’ took us into a state of mind were we just wanted to blast out riffs and share all the energy, so we cannot wait to play this live.”

And as well, an official visualiser video was created for the track ‘The Taste Of Wine’.

All three clips can be viewed below.

Seventh studio record 7 was released in January 2016 via Indie Recordings.
