EDENBRIDGE Unveil Music Video For New Track ‘The Call Of Eden’
July 29th, 2022

Linz, Austria-based symphonic metal band Edenbridge have released a music video for the track ‘The Call Of Eden’. Created by Johannes Jungreithmeier, the clip can be viewed below.

Speaking about the song, vocalist Sabine Edelsbacher said: “‘The Call Of Eden’ deals with power and manipulation. The lie is sweet in the beginning, but bitter in the end. While the truth is bitter in the beginning but sweet in the end. Realise the allurement, manipulation and the exercise of power in the inside and the outside and neither become victim nor offender – combine the powers in your heart.”

Edenbridge issue 11th full-length studio album Shangri-La on September 16th, 2022 through AFM Records.

Shangri-La was recorded at Farpoint Station Studio, mixed by Karl Groom and produced by multi-instrumentalist Arne ‘Lanvall’ Stockhammer himself. “Instead of going on a European tour in spring 2020, it was a matter of flipping on our creative switch and channelling those intense energies into a transformative song writing process for the new album,” he commented.

NDR Radio Orchestra flutist Daniel Tomann-Eickhoff features on the track ‘Savage Land’, while Eclipse frontman Erik Martensson features on the song ‘The Bonding (Part 2)’.

Cover artwork was designed by United Arab Emirates artist Muhammad K. Nazia, and features a pictorial representation of Shangri-La embodied as a synonym for paradise.

The term was first mentioned in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by James Hilton. According to a press release: “It is described as a mystical place where people live in peace and harmony. However, the story itself is based on the ancient Far Eastern legend of ‘Shambala’ depicted in long-preserved Buddhist scriptures. The legend depicts a paradise that is to become accessible again only when humankind is ready for it and only when a few have the spiritual maturity to understand and preserve the teachings.”

Frontwoman Sabine Edelsbacher said: “For me, ‘Shangri-La’ is a wellspring of wisdom, a deeply secluded spiritual centre and a realm of retreat that casts a magical allure over we humans. And there is a reason why it is so meaningfully said: ‘You do not enter paradise with your feet, but with your heart’.”
