DAWN OF OUROBOROS Stream New Track ‘Testudines’
April 7th, 2023

Oakland, California-based blackened progressive metal band Dawn Of Ouroboros have made the track ‘Testudines’ available for streaming, which can be accessed below.

“‘Testudines’ is the second track on the album and is another example of how we like to vary our sound as a band,” Tony Thomas said. “Instrumentally this one holds a lot of influence from jazz fusion with its harmonic structure, use of chords common in jazz, and frequent use of a swing feel.

“The whole band shows off our ability to play at high tempos while keeping our song structure melodic and coherent. Vocally, Chelsea uses several styles to show off her skills. With her use of her signature black metal shrieks, brutal lows, as well as her strong sense of melody with her clean singing. This is one we definitely can’t want to perform live!”

Dawn Of Ouroboros issue second full-length studio album Velvet Incandescence on April 21st, 2023 through Prosthetic Records.

Dawn Of Ouroboros came together in November 2021 to commence recording of Velvet Incandescence, once again opting to team up with Nick Loiacono at Fang Studios in San Mateo, California for recording and mixing, before being mastered by Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden Studio.

Cover artwork was designed by Jilly Colbert at Manfish Inc.

The track listing is as follows:

01. ‘Healing Grounds’
02. ‘Testudines’
03. ‘Iron Whispers’
04. ‘Levitating Pacifics’
05. ‘Rise From Disillusion’
06. ‘Castigation’
07. ‘Cephalopodic Void’
08. ‘Velvet Moon’

Dawn Of Ouroboros’ line-up is as follows:

Chelsea Murphy (vocals, Cailleach Calling / Botanist)
Tony Thomas (guitars and keyboards, Cailleach Calling, Tegmentum)
Ian Baker (rhythm guitars, Red Rot)
David Scanlon (bass, Deliria)
Ron Bertrand (drums, Botanist / Red Rot)

A music video was filmed for the track ‘Rise From Disillusion’. “We are happy to reveal the first song, Rise From Dissolution, from our upcoming album,” guitarist Tony Thomas commented. “We hope to have developed on our brand of harsh beauty. Bringing emotionally aggressive genre-bending metal mixed with plenty of dynamics.”

In addition, a music video was filmed for the track ‘Velvet Moon’. “‘Velvet Moon’ is the final track on our upcoming album,” Tony Thomas said. “We felt it was best to end Velvet Incandescence with it as it has a strong sense of nostalgia associated with it. We also felt it is the most cinematic of the tracks on the album, as it steadily builds up in intensity, reaches a climax, and then concludes with a strong sense of finality.”

Both clips can be viewed below.

Debut studio record The Art Of Morphology was released in March 2020 via Rain Without End Records.
