TECHNOPHOBIA
Anti-Human Terror EP

Self-released (2023)
Rating: 7/10

If you can put up with the generic shouty vocal blasts then I’m sure you’ll find great reward in this violent thrash EP. The band behind such a hostile outburst is Technophobia, a young quartet from Bydgoszcz in Poland.

Anti-Human Terror is equipped with four short tracks with a total duration of 11 minutes so you’ll need to give this a few spins. It’s very much streetwise thrash whereby the music is more entertaining than the vocals; this is due to some of the interesting and tight deviations of melody as evidenced on the rowdy opening title track. It’s a shame then that front throat Ozrata Masakrovich is just a one dimensional ranter, the sort of common ground vocalist for a whole host of same sounding thrash acts. He is extremely confrontational; not in a cool, dominant way but in an annoying hardcore barking fashion of fury.

Vocals aside, tracks like ‘Pandemic Fear’ and ‘Red Heaven’ boast a punky attitude propelled by the percussive fury of Piotr Rumiński. As I said before, this is a tight little EP delivered with a scathing pace and frenetic energy culminating with the crunchy ‘No Solution’. I still think this will appeal to a lot of thrashers who like their metal angry, robust and riotous and maybe I’m being a bit harsh regarding the vocal shouts, so give it a try and you be the judge.
