A decade ago this German band released its debut full-length platter \u2013 2013\u2019s R\u00f6ck \u2019N Roll Hellpatr\u00f6l<\/em><\/a> \u2013 and then vanished, but now they have returned from the depths of silence with their second opus, Sadistic Nightmares<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Very much channelling the ghost of Venom, Int\u00f6xicated fuses a very much tried, tired and tested formula by marrying a drunken sort of thrashiness with a snarling rock \u2018n\u2019 roll attitude. It\u2019s certainly fun but somewhat throwaway as the leathery combo rattles off a batch of tracks with titles like \u2018Street Metal Bastards\u2019 and \u2018Sex, Violence & Death\u2019. The Mot\u00f6rhead-ish \u2018Bad Habits\u2019 flows like a rusty river, \u2018Sadistic Night\u2019 features a simple chanted chorus and the rest of the tracks follow similar paths of leather-clad persuasion.<\/p>\n

With Sadistic Nightmares<\/em>, Int\u00f6xicated deliver basic good time metal that may get lost in the swamp of similar designs, but I do like that album cover.<\/p>\n
