What we have here is a rather compelling oddity from a Greek chap named Leviathan (Adventum Diaboli \/ Unreality In One\u2019s Self) who has followed on from the 2021 Booze Witch<\/em> full-length with this new five-track EP.<\/p>\n

Purple Goat<\/em> is, to put it simply, a stoner \/ doom instrumental release which somewhat labours due to its overall lack of variety as evidenced from opening plodder \u2018Heretic Haze\u2019. And by the time you reach closer \u2018Altar Of Black Magick\u2019 you\u2019ll be bemused as to what this could have been with a commanding vocalist.<\/p>\n

There are some decent psychedelic moments \u2013 again I refer to the lazy drawl of \u2018Altar Of Black Magick\u2019 and the oozing \u2018Sexorcism\u2019 with its rattling bass and general satanic-a-go-go slo-mo appeal \u2013 but Purple Goat<\/em> very quickly becomes background music to a night filled with watching 1970s occult movies and that\u2019s a real shame because there is a lot of promise with some of those esoteric riffs, but too much repetition for the stoned masses.<\/p>\n
