Finnish folk \/ black metal band Vorna issued fourth full-length studio album Aamunkoi<\/em> (English translation: \u2018Aurora\u2019) on April 21st, 2023 through Lifeforce Records.<\/p>\n

\u201cLife is finite, unpredictable, and unfair,\u201d Vorna commented. \u201cThe album\u2019s main theme is survival in the uncertain world where the lucky ones who get to witness a new day have a chance to strive for a better future – when they still can. Music-wise Aamunkoi<\/em> is Vorna\u2019s most melodic work to date and we have once again broadened our musical horizon towards new territories on every instrument.\u201d<\/p>\n

An official lyric video was released for the track \u2018Kallioilla\u2019. \u201cThis song is one of those that almost wrote itself,\u201d frontman Vesa Salovaara said. \u201cAfter a trip to Northern Finland\u2019s wilderness, I sat down by the lake at a summer cottage with a cup of morning coffee and a keyboard. Before sunset, I had the first demo and completely finished lyrics in my hands.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Kallioilla\u2019 captures the brief moment in the serenity of nature, when you can face yourself openly, let your thoughts flow freely, and let all things settle into proper proportion. We figured that releasing it today, on Finnish Culture Day, would do the song justice.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition, an official lyric video was released for the track \u2018Valo\u2019.\u201cWhen Arttu (J\u00e4rvisalo) brought the first instrumental demo of this song to the table, and I started to work on the lyrics and vocal arrangements, my initial thoughts were that this sounds like a love song,\u201d Vesa Salovaara said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s not really my expertise. The end result is something that fits into the aforementioned category as well, but it can also be interpreted from a more universal perspective.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe may not have the power to take anyone\u2019s pain away or save them, but what we can do, is to try and make each other\u2019s journeys more bearable. That\u2019s what \u2018Valo\u2019 is all about.\u201d<\/p>\n
