GRAVE PLEASURES: Music Video For New Track \u2018High On Annihilation\u2019 Launched<\/strong><\/span>

Finland-based death rock band Grave Pleasures have released a music video for the track \u2018High On Annihilation\u2019. Directed by David Fitt, the clip can be viewed below.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wrote the guitars and vocals for this one with Elvis Costello & The Attractions, This Year\u2019s Model<\/em> album (1978) in mind, that early Sisters Of Mercy \/ \u2018Burning Up\u2019 (1983) by Madonna drum machine vibe,\u201d frontman Mat \u201cKvohst\u201d McNerney said. \u201cWith some Roxy Music, Sparks & the R White\u2019s Lemonade Advert from the 80s thrown in for good measure, and Buffalo Bill being our spirit animal for this record. The verse is very much inspired by QOTSA (Queens Of The Stone Age) \u2013 Era Vulgaris<\/em> (2007) style Josh Homme riff like \u2018Misfit Love\u2019 or the badassery of \u2018Battery Acid\u2019 and that string tone of Jamie Hince from The Kills, giving way to the lush jeweled chorus with the conflicting clashing minor and major notes that put the pleasure in the grave. My first two albums in life were Licensed To Ill<\/em> (Beastie Boys, 1986) and Michael Jackson\u2019s Bad<\/em> (1987) so there\u2019s probably a red thread there of depravity. \u2018High On Annihilation\u2019 is recognizing that the world is going to hell in a hand-basket, but giving in to it, accepting it and going out with a smile on your face.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grave Pleasures issue fourth full-length studio album Plagueboys<\/em> on April 21st, 2023 through Century Media Records.<\/p>\n

The music for Plagueboys<\/em> was written by frontman Mat McNerney (Hexvessel \/ ex-D\u00f8dheimsgard) and guitarists Juho Vanhanen (Oranssi Pazuzu) and Aleksi Kiiskil\u00e4, and then arranged together with bassist Valtteri Arino and drummer Rainer Tuomikanto.<\/p>\n

Recording sessions took place in Finland, and was produced by Vanhanen and Oranssi Pazuzu guitarist and bandmate Niko Lehdontie at the controls.<\/p>\n

Plagueboys<\/em> will be made available in the following vinyl colours, including LP-sized booklet and poster; black, transparent blue (limited to 300 copies and exclusively available from CM Distro Wholesale EU and CMdistro.de), yellow (limited to 300 copies and exclusively available from UK outlets, Levykauppa \u00c4x, and Nuclear Blast), and lilac (limited to 300 copies, and exclusively available from Grave Pleasures via Evil Greed.<\/p>\n

Directed by Tekla V\u00e1ly, a music video was filmed for the track \u2018Society Of Spectres\u2019. \u201cThis song walks down a dark and crooked path that transcends into a nightmarish blood disco layer,\u201d guitarist Juho Vanhanen said. \u201cThat\u2019s the place where all the ghouls gather to celebrate the downfall and feed on the masses.\u201d<\/p>\n

A music video was also filmed for the track \u2018Heart Like A Slaughterhouse\u2019, directed by David Fitt. \u201c\u2018Heart Like A Slaughterhouse\u2019, the go-to midnight hour dance track for crooked minds,\u201d guitarist and songwriter Aleksi Kiiskil\u00e4 said. \u201cHooks you dive into head-first psycho-hypnotic frenzy and Buffalo Bill – influenced disco moves.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter playing at Wave Gotik Treffen a few years back, I was impressed by all those creative costumes and their uncanny, sinister details. It felt like being in some apocalyptic, gothic steampunk city where everything\u2019s messed up, with that being all normal. So, the morning after our show, basically out of nowhere popped up this riff and the driving beat for \u2018Heart Like A Slaughterhouse\u2019, where the confidence of Eliminator meets Virus-like psychotic hooks. Something that feels wrong and right at the same time, something addictive and macabre which makes you move around your room like some broken manikin.\u201d<\/p>\n

Third studio record Motherblood<\/em> was released in September 2017 via Century Media.<\/p>\n
