San Diego, California-based death metal band Cattle Decapitation have released a music video for the track \u2018Solastalgia\u2019. Directed by Dave Brodsky of MyGoodEye, the clip can be viewed below.<\/p>\n

Cattle Decapitation issued tenth full-length studio album Terrasite<\/em> on May 12th, 2023 through Metal Blade Records.<\/p>\n

The outing can be streamed in its entirety via YouTube below.<\/p>\n

Terrasite<\/em> was produced by Dave Otero, once again. Tony Parker of Midnight Odyssey was hired to handle piano and synths. <\/p>\n

Terrasite<\/em> is dedicated to the memory of former Cattle Decapitation guitarist Gabe Serbian, who passed away on April 30th, 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter a record like Death Atlas<\/em>, you have to make a turn,\u201d noted guitarist Josh Elmore. \u201cEverything about that album – the concept, artwork, music, etc, was a final statement. The only way to move forward is rebirth. In approaching the newest record, it was not only necessary to keep the musical trajectory the band has been aiming towards since the beginning, but also to further explore the ambient\/textural elements that were part of Death Atlas<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to do the 180\u00b0 opposite of Death Atlas<\/em>,\u201d added vocalist Travis Ryan. \u201cI already had the concept idea from years back and since Death Atlas<\/em> was so dark and brooding, I wanted a completely opposite effect – I wanted this to take place in the daylight. I\u2019ve always found daytime horror to be really unsettling so I wanted to make sure what was going on on the cover took place in the light of day, which also finds its place within the lyrics.\u201d<\/p>\n

The album title Terrasite<\/em> was invented by Ryan. \u201cThe combination of the two means \u2018earth-eater,\u2019\u201d he explained. \u201cIts a metaphor for humanity\u2019s role in the destruction of the planet and is a play-on-words of the very fitting word \u2018parasite.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Cover artwork was designed by longtime collaborator Wes Benscoter. \u201cWe\u2019ve all heard the old saying about how the cockroach is so pervasive… so invasive… so insidious… that they could survive a nuclear war…,\u201d commented Travis Ryan.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur previous album, Death Atlas<\/em>, left the world blackened and lifeless.. or so we thought. It turns out that the carbon-encrusted bodies that adorned the album\u2019s layout and music video (and that resemble the victims of Pompeii that were frozen in time by the Mt. Vesuvius disaster of 79 A.D.) were actually more of a cocoon stage for something much more vicious to come: Humanity 2.0.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn the cover we see the terrasite, aka \u2018earth-eater,\u2019 molting from its ootheca. Having lived the tortuous existence of being a human, they have now re-emerged into a new world… saddened… confused… PISSED; rebirthed as a new variant of human disease, now adapted to continue and finish the utter ravaging of its home planet, Earth.\u201d<\/p>\n
