Vocalist Ilkka Sepponen has that Max Cavalera sort of rant about him and the music is somewhat raw but also melodic in equal measures. There are times when <a href=\"\/site\/slayer-articles\/\" target=\"_blank\">Slayer<\/a> springs to mind (\u2018Suicidal Thrash\u2019), but the quartet isn\u2019t afraid to show its influences throughout this solid platter.<\/p>\n<p>Of the ten numbers on offer I was initially drawn to the choking, smoking clank of \u2018Nirvana Of Negative\u2019 which has a hardcore menace about its rawness. I also enjoyed \u2018The Night Will Come\u2019 with its slow build and eventual steady grind where again there\u2019s that Sepultura feel.<\/p>\n<p>The clattering chug of \u2018Twice Fallen Angel\u2019 appeals to, sort of shifting the band towards an early 90s style, because although My Funeral is a thrash act there are a few swerves to that 90s almost industrial dynamic yet mixed with a masculine, but not quite grungy flavour.<\/p>\n<p><em>Funeral Manifesto<\/em> is tough, opinionated metal and probably the band\u2019s best to date.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Neil Arnold<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MY FUNERALFuneral Manifesto Inverse (2022)Rating: 7\/10 Certainly far from being the best Finnish band on the circuit, this four-piece has still become somewhat veterans and remain prolific since forming in 2005 with Funeral Manifesto being the fourth full-length release from these guys.
