More melodic heavy metal is upon us, this time from Vienna, Austria-based combo Grim Justice and their third full-length studio album, and first for four years.<\/p>\n

Justice In The Night<\/em> is very much New Wave Of British Heavy Metal-tinged made all the more steely due to the smooth yet commanding vocal tones of Michela Vignoli. The band \u2013 a four-piece \u2013 is a rather potent brood with an eye for catchiness, particularly on tracks such as \u2018Curse Of The Moon\u2019 with its anthemic strides.<\/p>\n

Detractors may argue that this is mediocre, straight down the line and no frills metal, but I sense streaks of adventure and mood with the stable opening title track, while there\u2019s subtlety and prowess with \u2018(This) Dark Soul (Of Mine)\u2019 and \u2018Hey Angel\u2019 which has an almost poppy sensibility. Grim Justice stick to their guns with this album, soaking the listener with an air of nostalgia and solid rock melodies.<\/p>\n

Those seeking vigour will enjoy the fiery escapades of \u2018(The) House (That Lies) In The Shadows\u2019 with its mid-paced and rustic groove. Meanwhile, \u2018When Night Falls\u2019 and \u2018Terminus III\u2019 both bring suspense yet versatility, with the latter song building to a moody trudge nodding towards almost doomy nuances.<\/p>\n

There is something decidedly stark about this little record; an unassuming yet engaging composition boasting the organic flair of the early 80s British designs and for that I commend it.<\/p>\n
