IMMORTAL Release Official Lyric Video For \u2018Return To Cold\u2019 Track<\/strong><\/span>

Bergen, Norway-based black metal band Immortal have released an official lyric video for the track \u2018Return To Cold\u2019, which can be viewed below.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the song, Immortal mainman Demonaz said: \u201c\u2018Return To Cold\u2019 was the second song I wrote for this album. The guitar work is in the old insisting, Immortal style with just a handful of riffs. To make it feel even more like a song from the earlier albums, there are no big breaks, guitar solos, or other distractions. A powerful open main riff together with the majestic harmony and gloomy clean guitars created the frame for another atmospheric, distinct and characteristic Immortal song. The lyrics were written outside, on my walk through the forest, up the mountainside, to the cold windy tops, embracing the power and the timeless feel from winter. It is a definite return to cold, and like the rest of the album… a tribute to the long-standing Immortal fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Immortal issued tenth full-length studio album War Against All<\/em><\/a> on May 26th, 2023 through Nuclear Blast Records. <\/p>\n

War Against All<\/em> was composed and performed by lyricist \/ guitarist Demonaz (real name: Harald N\u00e6vdal), featuring some session members, like in earlier recordings. <\/p>\n

\u201cImmortal continues the style that was established and defined on our very first records,\u201d Demonaz commented. \u201cIt\u2019s fast, furious, epic, and mighty Blashyrkh metal – the one and only way!<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though the studio work is necessary to get an ultimate recording, the writing process is obviously my favourite. I still write all the guitar riffs \/ music at home with the same old vibe, and the lyrics as well. The early days of black metal inspire me the most. Cold nights in the woods, on the mountains under the winter moon. That\u2019s what keeps the spirit alive, and the foundation to all our music.\u201d<\/p>\n

Production was handled by Ice Dale (real name: Arve Isdal), and recorded at Conclave and Earshot Studios in Bergen, Norway by Herbrand Larsen and Dale. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s actually the same studio where I recorded the guitars and vocals for Northern Chaos Gods<\/em>,\u201d Demonaz noted. \u201cThey also did a great job with the new album, and it was a pleasure to go back and work there again. I am especially pleased with the outcome on this one. It\u2019s got that cold biting guitar sound, yet powerful production.<\/p>\n

\u201cImmortal have never compromised on the original vision, which is taking fans on a journey through Blashyrkh with our most grim and dark music, with every new release. These songs are no exception to this. I am proud of the final result, it\u2019s got a distinct expression, and I can\u2019t wait to let the fans hear it!\u201d<\/p>\n

Mastering was done by Iver Sand\u00f8y at Solslottet, meanwhile.<\/p>\n
