Fabio \u201cGrey Wolf\u201d Paulinelli is one of Brazil\u2019s most prolific metalheads, proof being that even as I write this review a live album has also emerged showcasing his skills! Fabio has been wading through the depths of the River Styx with Grey Wolf since 2012 and also features for Louder Than Hell.<\/p>\n

Beast Master<\/em> is the sixth full-length release, although this composition feels more like an EP and runs for 25 minutes. What you get is a rather standard traditional metal album with extra gravel in the vocal department. The title track is a fine example of how the dynamics work here; everything is solid, melodic yet formulaic, although there are numerous borderline thrash moments.<\/p>\n

Fabio plays guitar and bass while the solos are supplied by Junior Bonora. \u2018Hell On Earth\u2019 is a middle of the road, mid-tempo chugger and \u2018The Battle Of The Brita Valley\u2019 provides extra hardened gallop. Maybe think of stuff like modern Grave Digger and you\u2019ll be close to understanding Grey Wolf; Euro-tinged and ironclad stomping awash with cheesy tales and coated in that vocal grit.<\/p>\n

\u2018Bel\u2019 brings a subtlety as a short outro, but the \u2018Bass Solo\u2019 is completely pointless, and so we have to rely on the fiery steel of \u2018The Sons Of Crom\u2019 to bring the final act of mid-80s Germanic flair. However, let\u2019s make one thing clear, this is meat n\u2019 veg metal with no real identity that reeks of obscurity. But I wish Fabio luck and admire his perseverance when it comes to his metal output.<\/p>\n
