California-based death metal band Ripped To Shreds issued third full-length studio album \u5287\u8b8a<\/em> (pronounced \u2018Jubian\u2019, which translates to \u2018Upheaval\u2019) on October 14th, 2022 through Relapse Records.<\/p>\n

The outing can be streamed in its entirety via YouTube below.<\/p>\n

\u5287\u8b8a<\/em> (\u2018Jubian\u2019) was recorded and mixed by vocalist \/ guitarist Andrew Lee in his home studio, and mastered by Damian Herring at Subterranean Watchtower.<\/p>\n

Opening track \u2018Violent Compulsion For Conquest\u2019 features lyrics inspired by the Mukden Incident, while \u2018\u6f22\u5978 (Race Traitor)\u2019 describes Lee\u2019s experience as a minority in America. \u2018Reek Of Burning Freedom\u2019, meanwhile, is \u201can anti-war song\u201d that incites to remind its discerning listers of the United States\u2019 \u201cindiscriminate bombing\u201d campaign waged on North Korea during the Korean War. <\/p>\n

Cover artwork duties were designed by Chinese artist Guang Yang, who did the same for its predecessor. The statue on the cover is Mazu, the Taiwanese sea goddess, the setting of the painting inspired by several of the local temples Lee has visited in Taiwan. \u201cI felt like it was important to have something standing in for Chinese people,\u201d Lee said. <\/p>\n

Second studio record \u4e82<\/em> (pronounced as \u2018Luan\u2019, which translates to \u2018Chaos\u2019) was released in April 2020 via Pulverised Records.<\/p>\n
