Lausanne, Switzerland-based post-metal band Abraham issue fourth full-length studio album D\u00e9bris de Mondes Perdus<\/em> on February 25th, 2022 through Pelagic Records.<\/p>\n

Previous effort, 2018 affair Look, Here Comes The Dark!<\/em>, was a dystopian fiction concept album, divided into four consecutive periods \u2013 one for each vinyl record \u2013 throughout which the story of the disappearance of all life on Earth was told.<\/p>\n

D\u00e9bris de Mondes Perdus<\/em> acts as a sequel. \u201cWe used a text which comes from several hundred years in the future as a conceptual centerpiece,\u201d Abraham commented. \u201cIt is less a story than a kind of chant expressing fears, awe, struggles and lamentations. It is very oral, primitive and heathen, evil and bizarre. One can tell that darkness has obscured minds after having fallen onto the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s much rougher and definitely less baroque than our previous efforts while still retaining a general sense of malaise,\u201d the band continued, touching on D\u00e9bris de Mondes Perdus<\/em>\u2019 musical aspects.<\/p>\n

Following the release of Look, Here Comes The Dark!<\/em>, Abraham saw the departure of main vocalist Renzo Tornado Especial (Olivier Haehnel) and second guitarist Matoslav Axwielder (Mathieu Jallut). On D\u00e9bris de Mondes Perdus<\/em>, drummer Dave Schlagmeister serves as sole vocalist. \u201cAfter Renzo and Mat left the band, we found ourselves wondering if we should replace them or simply continue as a three-piece, and we were very eager to experiment with less instruments,\u201d Schlagmeister said. \u201cSince we\u2019re still very much guitar-oriented, we quickly felt the need to recruit someone else and Margo, whom we\u2019ve known for a long time, felt like the best fit. In a way, the reduction of the lineup matches the reduction in scope of the record: Look, Here Comes The Dark!<\/em> told the story of humanity\u2019s demise through various stages spanning almost two hours of music; D\u00e9bris de Mondes Perdus<\/em> is set a few hundred years later, on a scorched earth, where the last remnants of humanity try desperately to survive and feel the need to somehow stick together despite death lurking around every corner.\u201d<\/p>\n
