This is a new compilation of tracks from a Spanish heavy metal band that formed just four years ago out of Barcelona. I\u2019m unsure as to whether a compilation is required at this stage, but this release brings together the band\u2019s 2018 debut EP The Warning Sessions<\/em><\/a> and the two singles which followed.<\/p>\n

Hidden behind the back alley cover art are eight tracks of straight up, no frills metal with titles such as \u2018Fast, Heavy, Loud \u2019N Proud\u2019, \u2018Heavy Metal Addicts\u2019, \u2018Turn It Louder\u2019 and \u2018Black Leather Queen\u2019. Crank up the volume then for this collection of direct hits.<\/p>\n

Opening cut \u2018Sinner Rider\u2019 is a rollicking track plucked straight from the early to mid 80s and showcases the driving percussion of \u00c1ngel Smolski and the rattling bass of Aless Oppossed, who in tandem work as a crucial element of the band\u2019s attack – think early Iron Maiden fused with Accept. The sound is often speedy and brings to mind the rust-ridden glory days of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal where the likes of Raven ruled the roost.<\/p>\n

\u2018Fast, Heavy, Loud \u2019N Proud\u2019 is a tour de force of hasty metal. L\u00f6gan Heads vocals are snappy, as is his axe work as the trio strides through a plethora of macho metal speedballs.<\/p>\n

Featuring flashes of Tank and early M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce<\/a> spliced with Anvil, \u2018Black Leather Queen\u2019 is ballsy and streetwise, \u2018Heavy Metal Addicts\u2019 trundles nicely, and \u2018Machinegunner\u2019 begins with an explosive axe and drum tirade.<\/p>\n

The band boasts a dirty, oily, and very much authentic nature even with the slower \u2018Midnight Shooter\u2019. But at whatever pace they choose, L\u00f6anshark remains a potent force that directs its audience like an arrow from a crossbow. Now bring me an album.<\/p>\n
