International atmospheric black metal band Sojourner issued two-song EP Perennial<\/em> on June 4th, 2021 through Napalm Records.<\/p>\n

Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mike Lamb commented: \u201cWhen I approached the songwriting for this mini-EP I wanted to do something special that encompassed both where we began and where we are today, because while we\u2019ve grown and changed over the last six years we still have the same passion and vision for the band that brought us together initially. I approached both the songwriting and recording for this EP in the same way that I did on Empires Of Ash<\/em> (2016) and The Shadowed Road<\/em> (2018), even down to recording all of the instruments back in New Zealand again for the first time since we began, in the same room where I wrote \u2018Heritage Of The Natural Realm\u2019 in 2015.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt also seemed like a fitting time to do something that sat somewhere between a reinterpretation of \u2018Heritage Of The Natural Realm\u2019 and a sequel of sorts for the second EP track, \u2018Relics Of The Natural Realm\u2019, bringing our 2015 beginnings full circle back to where we are now and the band that we\u2019ve evolved into in 2021. This is reflected in the cover art, again by our good friend Jordan Grimmer who did the original Empires Of Ash<\/em> cover, showing the meeting of Sojourner both past and present. We couldn\u2019t be happier with our incredibly talented new members, both of who turned in absolutely beautiful vocal performances, and we\u2019re so excited about the bright future ahead for the band.\u201d<\/p>\n

As referenced, Perennial<\/em> marks the recording debuts of members Lucia Amelia Emmanueli, Tom O\u2019Dell, and Scotty Lodge.<\/p>\n

Perennial<\/em> was produced by Mike Lamb at Oneiros Studio in Dunedin, New Zealand.<\/p>\n

A music video was created for the title track, while an official vocal singthrough video was released for the song \u2018Relics Of The Natural Realm\u2019. Both clips can be viewed below.<\/p>\n

Third studio record Premonitions<\/em> was released in May 2020 via Napalm.<\/p>\n
