Norwegian black metal band Vreid have released a music video for the track \u2018Wolves At Sea\u2019, which can be viewed below.<\/p>\n

Vreid issued ninth full-length studio album Wild North West<\/em> on April 30th, 2021 through Season Of Mist.<\/p>\n

The outing can be streamed in its entirety via YouTube below.<\/p>\n

Wild North Nest<\/em> is a concept album that developed alongside an entire movie. According to a press release, throughout eight chapters \u201cthe listener will be taken on a journey deep into the mountains, to a dark place where the borders between reality and fantasy fade and where death is only one step behind you: The Wild North West.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jarle Hv\u00e1ll Kv\u00e5le commented: \u201cEver since February 2020, we have been working like hell on this new project. The only short break was when we hosted the livestream from my mountain farm last summer. This project has become all-consuming, and the hours we put into it is just insane. Most of the music was written during winter \/ early spring least year, and lyrically I started to work on this concept story. Then, me and movie producer H\u00e5vard Nesb\u00f8 who did the lyric videos for Lifehunger<\/em> and produced our livestream started talking about taking things further. I brought up this wild idea of doing a series of music videos, one for each song and then build these together as a movie. A movie that is the actual album. H\u00e5vard who has no limits on his lunacy jumped on board, and we never looked back.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis became the most creative adventure I have ever worked on. The whole process of writing music, recording and mixing it, writing lyrics, making the script for the movie, the actual filming and editing it and working on the design all got tangled up in one twisted world, where all these elements influenced and coloured each other. It\u2019s given a whole new dimension to our art. The result is Wild North West<\/em>. This as DIY as it gets, and it\u2019s our story.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Wild North West<\/em> we have the whole legacy in our backpack, but with new adventures and visions fulfilled. From the most extreme and intense we have ever done to a heavy and melodic world where we open new doors. Vreid’s origin is rooted in the blend of the aggressive 80s metal, the grooving 70s heavy rock and the northern black metal of the 90s. This is our DNA and this is the spirit of Sognametal. Welcome to the Wild North West.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wild North West<\/em> was recorded at Studio 1184 and Nabolaget Studio, with production and sound engineering from Jarle Hv\u00e1ll Kv\u00e5le together with Anders Nordengen. Mixing was handled by Kv\u00e5le alongside Helge Bentsen. Mastering, meanwhile, was overseen by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios in \u00d6rebro, Sweden.<\/p>\n

Terje \u2018Valfar\u2019 Bakken provides guest keyboards on the track \u2018Into The Mountains\u2019, while Espen Bakketeig supplies additional keys on the songs \u2018Wolves At Sea\u2019, \u2018Dazed And Reduced\u2019, and \u2018Shadowland\u2019. In addition, Eli, Helena, and Anna give backing vocals on the track \u2018Into The Mountains\u2019.<\/p>\n

Cover artwork duties fell to Remi Julieb\u00f8 of Deformat Design, while photography for the outing was done by Nesb\u00f8 and Talle with animated pictures by Remi Julieb\u00f8 of Deformat Design.<\/p>\n

Eighth studio record Lifehunger<\/em> was released<\/a> in September 2018 via Season Of Mist.<\/p>\n
