CRUACHAN Launch Animated Music Video For New Single \u2018The Hawthorn\u2019<\/strong><\/span>

Dublin, Ireland-based folk metal band Cruachan have released an official animated music video for the track \u2018The Hawthorn\u2019. Created by Aldo Solis, the clip can be viewed below.<\/p>\n

A track steeped in Irish folklore, \u2018The Hawthorn\u2019 is set in Ireland during the 1700\u2019s when the population were heavily under the influence of the Catholic church while still holding onto old Pagan beliefs. It balances the band\u2019s love of Irish traditional folk music with uncompromising metal, a style of music the band helped develop back in the early 1990\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the song, frontman Keith Fay said: \u201cThe hawthorn tree is a fairy tree, you will see them all over Ireland growing in strange unlikely places where other trees would have been cut down. It is extremely unlucky to cut down a hawthorn tree else you anger the Faerie folk.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the song, the woman is taking her dead baby to bury under the tree, to give her baby to the faeries. We don\u2019t know how the baby died or what has led to this decision but she is set in her ways and the baby will not have a Christian burial.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cruachan released \u2018The Hawthorn\u2019 as a digital single on October 2nd, 2020 through Despotz Records and is available for streaming through major music platforms here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Hawthorn\u2019 was recorded during July 2020 at Trackmix Recording Studio in Dublin, and features guest contributions from former GWAR vocalist Kim Dylla on backing vocals and Les B\u00e2tards du Nord\u2019s Geoffrey Dell\u2019Aria on tin whistle and bag pipes.<\/p>\n

The song is taken from the band\u2019s as-yet-untitled ninth full-length studio album, which is slated for an early 2021 issue via Despotz.<\/p>\n
