Austin, Texas-based melodic death \/ doom metal band Hinayana have released an official lyric video for the track \u2018In Sacred Delusion\u2019. Featuring guest vocals from Hanging Garden frontman Toni Toivonen, the clip can be viewed below.<\/p>\n

Regarding the song and the collaboration with Toni Toivonen, frontman Casey Hurd said: \u201c\u2018In Sacred Delusion\u2019 is about the inevitability of our own self destruction. We are all in some way walking towards the flame of our own demise, both collectively as humans and individually as people. We are on a path that sometimes seems like we cannot stray from, eventually burning the world around us and giving into the hellscape we\u2019ve made for ourselves. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe song incorporates more of the band\u2019s doomy side, with downtempo riffing and emotional passages topped off with the guttural vocals of Hanging Garden\u2019s Toni Toivonen. It was a sort of surreal experience to be able to share a track with vocalist of a band which has inspired my own writing so much and that I\u2019d listened to for so many years. Toni is a fantastic musician to work with and I know he\u2019s been looking forward to seeing this track be released just as much we have, so this is a very special moment for all of us!\u201d<\/p>\n

Hinayana issue five-song EP Death Of The Cosmic<\/em> on August 28th, 2020 through Napalm Records. The outing will be made available in various formats can be pre-ordered here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Casey Hurd commented: \u201cDeath Of The Cosmic<\/em> is based on the severed connection between ourselves and the cosmic, spiritual force in the universe and the loss of hope for the cold, modern world man has created in nature\u2019s place.<\/p>\n

\u201cSonically, we wanted to make something that was beautiful but crushing at the same time, demonstrated in the title track of this EP, which in concept might be viewed as a microcosm of the whole EP itself. Something we tried to do was stray away from some of the more clich\u00e9 elements of melodic death metal and instead focus on what is the very root \/ core of Hinayana and what gives the band its own sound.\u201d<\/p>\n

Death Of The Cosmic<\/em> was primarily self-produced by the band with mixing \/ drum recording from Kevin Butler. Mastering duties fell to Swallow The Sun \/ Gloria Morti guitarist Juho R\u00e4ih\u00e4 at SoundSpiral Audio in Kouvola, Finland.<\/p>\n

Hanging Garden frontman Toni Toivonen contributes guest vocals on the track \u2018In Sacred Delusion\u2019, while the song \u2018Cold Conception\u2019 features late Tengger Cavalry frontman and multi-instrumentalist Nature Ganganbaigal on Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle).<\/p>\n

Speaking about the song, Casey Hurd said: \u201cWhile writing \u2018Cold Conception\u2019, I wanted to create something more energetic than the other tracks on the EP while keeping the mid-paced, brooding \/ rhythmic sound that I enjoy writing the most. The song is about the aimless, cold, modern world man has created and somehow wandered into at the same time, and the accelerating journey to reach a point of no return where many civilizations have collapsed in the past.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m honoured to have been able to work with Nature Ganganbaigal of Tengger Cavalry on this track before he passed away, he was excited and enthusiastic about the project. The track features his horsehead fiddle playing, creating some of the most sorrowful and bittersweet moments the band has ever produced on this track alone; so much so that we all got goosebumps listening to his parts in the studio during the mixing process.\u201d<\/p>\n

Debut studio record Order Divine<\/em> was released independently in March 2018.<\/p>\n
