Death metal project White Stones, a solo endeavour for Opeth bassist Mart\u00edn M\u00e9ndez, have released an official playthrough video for the track \u2018Infected Soul\u2019, which can be viewed below.<\/p>\n

White Stones issued debut full-length studio album Kuarahy<\/em> on March 20th, 2020 through Nuclear Blast Records.<\/p>\n

The creative process for Kuarahy<\/em> began during a year-long break following touring commitments in support of Opeth’s September 2016 outing Sorceress. \u201cI\u2019ve always written music at home but never had the confidence to do anything like this,\u201d said M\u00e9ndez. \u201cI never wrote a song, never presented something I wrote for Mikael (\u00c5kerfeldt, Opeth singer \/ songwriter). I didn\u2019t have any direction; I came up with the first song for fun. White Stones has nothing to do with Opeth, I see no relation between the two. I played Kuarahy<\/em> to Mikael a few months ago, he really liked it and was happy for me. Everyone in the band has side projects, it\u2019s important. We tour so much you can become consumed by it; it has been really nice to do something different. White Stones has renewed my strength and energy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kuarahy<\/em> is named after M\u00e9ndez\u2019s birthplace in Uruguay. \u201cI feel strongly connected to Uruguay still,\u201d he reflected. \u201cI wanted to write music related to that – the sun on the Uruguayan flag I transformed into the White Stones logo; there are a lot of small things that connect the record to that place. Kuarahy<\/em> is the native Uruguayan people\u2019s word for \u2018Sun\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kuarahy<\/em> was recorded at the Farm Of Sounds studios in Barcelona, Spain and produced by Martin Mendez himself, while Jamie Gomez at the Orgone Studio near Woburn in Bedfordshire, England was responsible for mixing and mastering.<\/p>\n

Opeth\u2019s Frederik Akesson plays lead guitar on all tracks except for \u2018The One\u2019, which features a guest solo from former Katatonia and Bloodbath guitarist Per Eriksson. <\/p>\n

A music video was released for the track \u2018Worms\u2019. In addition, official lyric videos were released for the songs \u2018Drowned In Time\u2019 and \u2018Rusty Shell\u2019. All three clips can also be viewed below.<\/p>\n
