Los Angeles, California-based extreme metal band Abysmal Dawn issued fifth full-length studio album Phylogenesis<\/em> on April 17th, 2020 through Season Of Mist. <\/p>\n

Phylogenesis<\/em> can be streamed in its entirety via YouTube below.<\/p>\n

The band commented: \u201cSo here we are, album number five, six years after the release of our last album! It took a long time to get here but I can say without a doubt, this one is worth the wait. We pushed the limits of all the musicians in this band and everyone is extremely proud.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe album title Phylogenesis<\/em> (f\u012bl\u014d\u02c8jen\u0259s\u0259s) basically refers to an evolution of a species in biology. It could be applied to how we\u2019ve evolved for the better as a band, but also how humanity has evolved for the worse.<\/p>\n

\u201cLyrically the album became sort of concept album some what unintentionally. It deals a lot with things we encounter in our modern society and the maddening effect it has on the individual. \u2018Hedonistic\u2019 in particular is somewhat inspired by Maslow\u2019s Hierachy Of Needs and that true happiness lies in purpose, not material pursuits.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to all our fans that have supported us in our absence and waited patiently. This album is for you just as much as it is for us. Truly, thank you from the bottom of our black hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Phylogenesis<\/em> was mixed by Charles Elliott at Tastemaker Audio in Los Angeles, while mastering duties fell to Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios in \u00d6rebro, Sweden.<\/p>\n

Guitarist Fredrik Folkare (Unleashed \/ Firespawn) contributed two guest solos to the track \u2018Soul\u2010Sick Nation\u2019.<\/p>\n
