BENIGHTED Launch Music Video For \u2018Casual Piece Of Meat\u2019<\/strong><\/span>

Saint Etienne, France-based deathgrind group Benighted have filmed a music video for the track \u2018Casual Piece Of Meat\u2019, which can be viewed below.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the video, vocalist Julien Truchan said: \u201cHere we go, guys! Another part of our lovely Michael story and the search for his mom\u2019s love. We want to thank everyone who\u2019s been involved in this creepy disgusting project, with a sweet taste of Texas Chainsaw Massacre<\/em>. Kick Your Eyes did great once again with these amazing actors. We give you \u2018Casual Piece Of Meat\u2019!\u201d<\/p>\n

Benighted issued ninth full-length studio album Obscene Repressed<\/em> on April 10th, 2020 through Season Of Mist.<\/p>\n

Julien Truchan commented: \u201cThis album tells the story of a psychotic boy [Michael] with oedipal issues. His mother finds his cleft-palate disgusting so he hides it from her sight at home. Among the symptoms of his psychosis, he sees himself as deeply deformed, has troubles with boundaries, and finds parallel ways to handle his growing sexual urges. He has a deep hatred for his father because he\u2019d like to take his place by his mother\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an act of \u2018going back inside mom,\u2019 he surprises her with dinner, cooking a meal with his own lips that he cuts off with his dad\u2019s razor. His mother only realizes what she just ate when he takes off his bandages at the end of the dinner.\u201d<\/p>\n

Obscene Repressed<\/em> was recorded in Kohlekeller Studio in Seeheim-Jugenheim, Germany, with production and sound engineering from Kristian Bonifer. Mixing and mastering was handled by Tom Porcell. <\/p>\n

Guest vocal appearances are made by Hatebreed\u2019s Jamey Jasta on \u2018Implore The Negative\u2019, Cytotoxin\u2019s Sebastian Grihm on \u2018The Starving Beast\u2019, and Disbelief\u2019s Karsten J\u00e4ger on \u2018Mom, I Love You The Wrong Way\u2019, respectively. \u201cGuest vocals are a tradition for the band,\u201d Truchan explained. \u201cOn Obscene Repressed<\/em>, we have three amazing vocalists who were chosen considering the style of the track and what their voice could bring in terms of brutality and originality!<\/p>\n

\u201cInviting my brother in arms Grimo from Cytotoxin on the track \u2018The Starving Beast\u2019 was obvious as it\u2019s a very \u2018martial\u2019 and brutal track that it would create such violence in the super-fast switch of our vocal combinations! And for the record, I refused to tell him the concept of the story before he sent me his vocal parts, because it\u2019s written like slaves were given to the lions in an arena in front of a bloodthirsty crowd, but it\u2019s in fact about the psychotic boy masturbating in front of his dolls and toys and \u2018The Starving Beast\u2019 is actually his penis! (Laughs) We laughed a lot when I told him the story afterwards!\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cAbout J\u00e4ger, he already made vocals on our Icon<\/em> album (2007), but when we wrote \u2018Mom, I Love You The Wrong Way\u2019, I surprised myself trying to imitate him on the chorus, so I thought that it had to be him, as he has such a killer and particular voice! The result is amazing!<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the most surprising guest on the record is of course Jamey Jasta from Hatebreed! I am such a huge fan of Hatebreed! He spoke about Benighted last year on his podcast so I tried to reach him. When I received the mail that he would do it, I was so amazed! The mix of our vocals is so unique in the history of Benighted! \u2018Implore The Negative\u2019 has already become a hymn for me and I am very impatient to sing it on stage!\u201d<\/p>\n

Included as a bonus track is a cover interpretation of ‘Get This’. Written by Slipknot, its original rendition appeared as a bonus track on digipak versions of their June 1999 self-titled debut.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe really like challenges!\u201d stated Truchan. \u201cWhen we decide to cover a song, we want it to mean something because their music was important to us and our musical history! The first Slipknot album came as a great surprise and it was out of the question to cover their \u2018hits\u2019 as that’s too obvious and easy! Covering a band like Slipknot and giving it the Benighted sound was a very cool experience. At the beginning of the track when Corey is asking for a scream, of course I made a pig squeal! (laughs)\u201d<\/p>\n

Cover artwork duties fell to Grindesign.<\/p>\n
