THE AGONIST Launch Music Video For \u2018Orphans\u2019 Title Track<\/strong><\/span>

Montr\u00e9al, Qu\u00e9bec, Canada-based melodic death metal group The Agonist have filmed a music video for the title track of their latest album Orphans<\/em>, which can be viewed below.<\/p>\n

Vocalist Vicky Psarakis commented: \u201cThe story behind \u2018Orphans\u2019 was inspired by the novel We Have Always Lived in the Castle<\/em> by Shirley Jackson. It emphasizes the feeling of \u2018not belonging\u2019 and the social and physical isolation that comes as a result of that. <\/p>\n

\u201cEven though we\u2019ve all felt like outcasts at some point in our lives, it\u2019s important to remember that we\u2019re never truly alone and that there\u2019s always someone there for you. We’re all \u2018orphans\u2019, but we\u2019re in this life together.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Agonist issued sixth full-length studio album Orphans<\/em> on September 20th, 2019 through Rodeostar Records.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the album, Vicky Psarakis said: \u201cWhen I heard the first instrumentals for Orphans<\/em> I was a bit shocked and confused. The music was really dark and heavier than anything we\u2019ve done in previous albums and I wasn\u2019t quite sure how I\u2019d be able to match that emotion. But then, you know, all it took was writing one full song to get the ball rolling and 2-3 months later, everything was done.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith every new album, we love to experiment and dip our toes into new territory, but there\u2019s also a lot of elements here that are reminiscent of the earlier days. You can expect a lot of hard hitting, fast-paced madness and many many blast beats! Vocally, there\u2019s a wide range of styles, some of which I tried out for the first time, and the lyrics are mostly inspired from horror stories and real-life tragedies. Events that I felt a lot of people can relate to.<\/p>\n

\u201cOrphans<\/em> is my third album with The Agonist and I can\u2019t wait to show the world what we created!\u201d<\/p>\n

Fifth studio record Five<\/em> was released<\/a> in September 2016 via Napalm Records.<\/p>\n
