As stated, it is six tracks of rancid, rampant, foul-smelling war metal dripping with satanic hate and built upon a foundation of grizzly guitars, D-beat destruction and the usual charcoal-coated vocal gurgles.

The tracks flash by as if one has speeded up their old Venom-cum-Bulldozer records, the wall of fury at times more laughable than scary. Thankfully though, there’s enough grim melody contained so as not to fully alienate like so many of this ilk who feel the need to simply sound like a flushed toilet.

‘Warbrothers Of Darkness’ is a vile and frenetic black / thrash workout; I’m sure some of the lyrics are hilarious, although through the haze of rust-smelling smoke I can’t quite decipher such vomit. Nevertheless, check out that pulverizing riff on ‘Servant Of Hell’ with its machine gun percussion and blazing guitar, and let us also descend into the fiery pits of ‘Scepter Of Doom’ with its crushing trudge and abysmal catchiness. Hats (and chains… and leather masks) off to these guys for providing some very accessible if somewhat salivating lumps of wreckage that will no doubt smoke out every rat from its hole.

‘Nuclear Abomination’, in contrast to ‘Scepter Of Doom’, showcases the band at their most hellish and spiteful with fleshy speed and primitive clanking abounding. The murky bass lead into ‘Son Of A Whore’ gets that D-beat belligerence foaming again as we’re swept up once again by a black, ripping storm of chaos that just might have you reaching for those old Destruction, Sodom and Bathory albums and in unison with demons chanting “Total destruction!!!!”

Not always easy reviewing such heaps of evil, frothing junk but Satan My Master have indeed arrived… whether we like it or not.

Neil Arnold

SATAN MY MASTERThe King Of Hell Arrives EP Helldprod (2018)Rating: 7/10 Limited to 100 cassette-only copies comes the debut EP from Portuguese nutcases Satan My Master who, with such a moniker, must surely spout out some sort of hellish black / death metal?
