For me, it reflects the state of mankind and the world today \u2013 the general, ongoing decay which we seem to lack the ability to stop. Many of the lyrics on the album circle around that kind of theme. <em>Purgatorio<\/em> is also the original title of the second part of great Dante Alighieri\u2019s masterpiece <em>The Divine Comedy<\/em> (1320). It\u2019s not the first time that we\u2019ve found inspiration in that specific work of literature.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Purgatorio<\/em> was produced by the band themselves, once again. \u201cJust like our previous two albums, we produced this one ourselves,\u201d Nyman stated. \u201cMainly because we like to have full control of the production. We\u2019re control freaks to the bone and the thought of putting our creations into the hands of an external producer simply scares us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Drums were recorded by Jakob Hermann at Top Floor Studios in Gothenburg. Mixing was handled by drummer Andr\u00e9 Holmqvist, who co-wrote lyrics with Nyman. In addition, an official lyric video was created for the song \u2018Manimalized\u2019.
