Only Jizzy can lead us into the next few years with such positivity and vim, that attitude and style still evoking Love\/Hate\u2019s most grandiose moments as his band sweats hard and breaks bones to deliver high doses of rock \u2018n\u2019 roll pomp. <\/p>\n<p><em>All You Need Is Soul<\/em> is a veritable smorgasbord of punky, sleazy, scorching rock whereby huge throbbing melodies are delivered with a rough-around-the-edges approach. Just dive head-first into that deep, oozing and rolling grunge vibe on \u2018When The Devil Comes\u2019. \u2018When The Devil Comes\u2019 nods back to the black, gluey masses of 1992 circa My Sister\u2019s Machine as the riffs generate huge dollops of syrup, Jizzy\u2019s vocals swirling within the sugar-sweet textures of kaleidoscopic gloop. <\/p>\n<p>The title track is a tribal stomp which insinuates that we\u2019ve never left the funked up glories of the late 80s and early 90s alternative metal scene; Saigon Kick, Liquid Jesus, Warrior Soul, I Love You and, of course, Love\/Hate, are all thrown into the blender and stirred with a multi-coloured spoon. <\/p>\n<p>Maybe it\u2019s that swaggering riff, the almost psychedelic and mesmerising bounce enraptured by the Pearl posse. <em>\u201cYou\u2019ve got it&#8230; you\u2019ve got it baby\u201d<\/em> Jizzy hypnotically sways; it\u2019s a mantra of vigour and grunge, a time when grunge still had that edge rather than that all too sticky and downtrodden attitude. It\u2019s always there, even through the wilder sizzling escapades (\u2018Frustrated\u2019, \u2018Comin\u2019 Home To The Bone\u2019 et al) which all exhibit pulsating, throbbing layers of groove. There\u2019s no surprise at the strong Love\/Hate hints too in the likes of \u2018House Of Sin\u2019 with its stabbing rhythm \u2018n\u2019 sleaze, the struttin\u2019 \u2018High For An Eye\u2019 and the infectious trudge of \u2018Little Treasures\u2019. <\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s so much more flavour too, though. \u2018Mortified\u2019 just hammers along with bony percussion and verve, and yet at the other end of the spectrum, there\u2019s the summery Rolling Stonesy \u2018You Don\u2019t Know What It\u2019s Like\u2019 with that playful acoustic blues vibe. \u2018It Doesn\u2019t Matter\u2019, meanwhile, is a classy strumming ballad as Jizzy reflects, <em>\u201cNow it\u2019s over, it wasn\u2019t meant to be&#8230; you don\u2019t care for me, and it doesn\u2019t matter\u201d<\/em>.
