The outing was cut between November 1986-January 1987 at Horus Sound Studio in Hanover, Germany. Tommy Newton produced and engineered, with Tommy Hansen co-producing, mixing, and engineering. Edda and Uwe Karczewski designed the front cover artwork from a concept devised by guitarist Kai Hansen. <em>Keeper Of The Seven Keys: Part 1<\/em> was the first of four Helloween studio albums to feature vocalist Michael Kiske.
