London, England-based stoner \/ doom metal group Orange Goblin issue ninth full-length studio album The Wolf Bites Back<\/em> in June 2018 through Candlelight \/ Spinefarm.<\/p>\n

The outing was recorded at Orgone Studios in Woburn, Bedfordshire with producer Jaime Gomez Arellano.<\/p>\n

Vocalist Ben Ward commented: \u201cWe are very excited about this new album. The Wolf Bites Back<\/em> is our strongest and most diverse collection of songs to date, it’s certainly a lot darker both musically and lyrically. It is still definitely a distinct Orange Goblin album but we have incorporated a lot more variation on this record and there are hints of Can, Captain Beyond, Wishbone Ash and The Stooges nestling amongst the obvious Sabbath and Mot\u00f6rhead influences. Lyrically, I have explored everything from alien serial killers to zombie biker gangs, Buddhist warriors through to descendants of the Salem witches!\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cThere was definitely a concerted effort to make sure all the songs could work in a live environment which gives the album a more raw, stripped-back feel \u2014 something that I feel has been lacking from good rock and metal in recent years.<\/p>\n

\u201cWorking with Jaime Gomez Arellano was really productive and a great experience, especially going back to tracking stuff to tape. I feel that he got the best out of all of us as musicians and songwriters and that really comes across in the songs, there is an air of confidence and experience. It was also a real honour for us to have Phil Campbell of Mot\u00f6rhead lending his hand to a couple of solos on there, too!\u201d<\/p>\n

Cover artwork will be created by Roland Scriver at Familiar Ink.<\/p>\n

Ward added: \u201cWe wanted something dark, menacing, striking and memorable all at once and we feel that Roland has certainly delivered that. We think it has the look of an iconic cover, one that you will recognise for years to come and one that perfectly represents the music on the record. The wolf is such an amazing beast. The wolf is predatory, vicious and a merciless hunter but at the same time so determined, smart, cunning and beautiful and the portrayal of the wolf about to strike on the cover is a great representation of the way we felt when writing this album.\u201d<\/p>\n
