AT THE GATES Release Sixth Studio Album \u2018To Drink From The Night Itself\u2019<\/strong><\/span>

Gothenburg, Sweden-based melodic death metal group At The Gates issued sixth full-length studio album To Drink From The Night Itself<\/em><\/a> on May 18th, 2018 through Century Media Records.<\/p>\n

The outing was recorded with producer Russ Russell at Parlour Studios in Northampton, England, with vocals being cut with Per St\u00e5lberg in Gothenburg. The effort marks the first At The Gates record to feature guitarist Jonas St\u00e5lhammar, whose recruitment was revealed<\/a> on September 11th, 2017. St\u00e5lhammar replaced founding guitarist Anders Bj\u00f6rler, who announced<\/a> his exit from the band\u2019s ranks in March 2017.<\/p>\n

Cover artwork was created by Costin Chioreanu.<\/p>\n

Frontman Tomas Lindberg commented: \u201cIt has once again been an absolute pleasure working creativily with Costin. We had a lot of ideas for what we wanted to get across with the art this time around. Overall they were, not surprisingly, related to the general concept of the record. What is great with Costin is that he understands the band. He knows what we are and where we come from. And me and him also have a strong artistic connection. I have never met anyone that goes so deep into the world of my lyrics and concepts. When I first wrote to him describing my ideas, I was worried that my remarks were perhaps too long and too confusing, only to get back an even longer and very inspired response.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe inspiration for the actual front cover piece is taken from the Pergamon Altar, on display at the Pergamon museum in Berlin. It is of course linked closely to the concept that the whole record is based upon, but more on that later. But I will throw a name out there, for the interested ones; Peter Weiss.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t wait to get the whole record in my hands now, as this is just one of the many great artwork pieces that Costin has created for us on To Drink From The Night Itself<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Music videos were filmed for the title track and the songs \u2018A Stare Bound In Stone\u2019, \u2018Daggers Of Black Haze\u2019 and \u2018The Colours Of The Beast\u2019. In addition, an official live performance video was also released for \u2018Daggers Of Black Haze\u2019. All five clips can be viewed below.<\/p>\n

Fifth studio record At War With Reality<\/em> was released<\/a> in October 2014 via Century Media Records.<\/p>\n
