Sion, Switzerland-based metal band Samael have filmed a music video for their rendition of The Beatles\u2019 \u2018Helter Skelter\u2019, which can be viewed below. The original version of \u2018Helter Skelter\u2019 appeared on The Beatles November 1968 self-titled studio album (aka The White Album<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Regarding the song and video, Samael stated: \u201cTo the question \u2018what is the first metal song ever recorded\u2019, we\u2019ve decided to answer \u2018Helter Skelter\u2019 from The Beatles! To commemorate the 53rd anniversary of the first release of \u2018Helter Skelter\u2019 and consequently the birth of heavy metal, we present you with a video of our own version of the song. The video exposes the dark side of technology and spirituality with numerous references to the time frame in which the song was originally released. Musicwise, we\u2019ve tried to stay true to the original version of the track but we\u2019ve approached it like it is our own composition. The song appears on our latest album, Hegemony<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Samael issued tenth full-length studio album Hegemony<\/em> on October 13th, 2017 through Napalm Records.<\/p>\n

The band commented: \u201cThe creative process that leads to the completion of Hegemony<\/em> took over four years. Throughout that time we lived with and saw each song growing into what they finally became.<\/p>\n

\u201cHegemony<\/em> is an album that acknowledges the world we\u2019re living in, and emphasized on the effort to take control of that world. It\u2019s all about change and evolution. It\u2019s a strong statement, a testament of our time and a call for revolution.\u201d <\/p>\n

Hegemony<\/em> marks the band\u2019s first album to be released through Napalm Records. Details of Samael\u2019s worldwide deal with the Austrian record company were revealed<\/a> on January 23rd.<\/p>\n

Hegemony<\/em> was also made available as a limited edition box set. Limited to 500 copies, the set included; a four-page digipack CD, a flag, a 10x10cm logo patch and logo pendant.<\/p>\n

Music videos were filmed for the title track, the song \u2018Black Supremacy\u2019, and namesake track \u2018Samael\u2019, while a live performance video was released for the song \u2018Rite Of Renewal\u2019. In addition, an official 360\u00ba animated video was created for the title track. And as well, official lyric videos were issued for the songs \u2018Angel Of Wrath\u2019 and \u2018Red Planet\u2019. All seven clips can also be viewed below.<\/p>\n

Ninth studio record Lux Mundi<\/em> was released in April 2011 via Nuclear Blast Records.<\/p>\n
