IHSAHN Unveils Music Video For \u2018Lend Me The Eyes Of The Millenia\u2019 Track<\/strong><\/span>

Notodden, Norway-based extreme metal vocalist Ihsahn, frontman of Emperor, has filmed a music video for the track \u2018Lend Me The Eyes Of The Millenia\u2019, which can be viewed below.<\/p>\n

Ihsahn issued seventh full-length solo studio album \u00c1mr<\/em> on May 4th, 2018 through via Candlelight \/ Spinefarm.<\/p>\n

The outing was recorded at Sonic Attic Studio in Ihsahn\u2019s hometown.<\/p>\n

Ihsahn commented: \u201cKnowing that the form would be somewhat similar to what I did on the previous album, and given that I write stuff in a certain way, I wanted to change the wrapping this time. So instead of going with my go-tos of strings and orchestration, I focused on analogue synths and more in-your-face sounds. It goes back to the beginning of Emperor, when we brought in strings and horns inspired by orchestral movie scores by John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith, but at the same time we loved all those eerie synth soundtracks of, for example, John Carpenter\u2019s Halloween<\/em> (1978). I\u2019ve also been listening to some contemporary R&B and hip-hop stuff with those deep, deep 808s. It\u2019s just somehow darker than a lot of metal or black metal. It has a depth and an energy to it that I find captivating, so I wanted to explore those arrangement styles as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery album I intend to make the darkest album ever,\u201d Ihsahn continues. \u201cI never set out to make anything more melodic or accessible. However, growing up on 80s metal, plus having a rather wide range of musical influences, I often end up with quite contrasting elements. This is my seventh solo album, so in the end it really comes down to methods and perspectives that keep me exited and fired up about what I\u2019m working on. If I\u2019m not excited about it, I can\u2019t expect anybody else to be!\u201d<\/p>\n

Longtime drummer Tobias \u00d8rnes Andersen lends percussion once again, having previously played in the Norwegian bands Shining and Leprous. Opeth guitarist Fredrik \u00c5kesson contributes a guest solo on the track \u2018Arcana Imperii\u2019, meanwhile.<\/p>\n
