This Canadian quartet caused quite a stir with the release of their self-financed Armed And Dangerous<\/em><\/a> mini-album, and now the band are back with a six-year recording deal with Viper Records, the new 100% heavy metal label launched by Attic Records.<\/p>\n

Executioner\u2019s Song<\/em> features 11 killer tracks, of which four \u2013 \u2018Take This Torch\u2019, \u2018Fast And Loud\u2019, \u2018Hot Metal\u2019 and \u2018The End\u2019 \u2013 are remixed, more polished versions of those found on Armed And Dangerous<\/em>. \u2018Take This Torch\u2019 is absolutely brilliant; one of the best power metal tracks of \u201984.<\/p>\n

The newer material is generally more thrash oriented, especially \u2018City Of Damnation\u2019, \u2018Escape The Fire\u2019 and \u2018March Of Death\u2019, where Razor have taken their earlier Metallica influences into Slayer territory to produce a deluge of power and mayhem that\u2019s second to none.<\/p>\n

\u2018Deathrace\u2019 and \u2018Distant Thunder\u2019 do show touches of Metallica, while \u2018Time Bomb\u2019 and the fast \u2018n\u2019 furious \u2018Gatecrasher\u2019 are more in the Mot\u00f6rhead vein, especially with the raw aggressive vocals of Stace \u2018Sheepdog\u2019 McLaren whose also capable of throwing in some Rob Halford-like screams to great effect.<\/p>\n

Executioner\u2019s Song<\/em> is without a doubt one of the best power \/ thrash metal releases of \u201985 so far, and deserves to break Razor into global underground acceptance.<\/p>\n
