I must admit that I\u2019ve never heard of Onslaught before, but this four-piece from Bristol, England, have certainly come up with one of the best black \/ death metal albums of the year so far.<\/p>\n

True, the band are not treading any new ground \u2013 it\u2019s all been done before \u2013 but they execute it so much better than most and possess all the qualities of Slayer<\/a>, Venom, Exodus and Destruction<\/a> and can\u2019t fail to impress thrashers in all corners of the globe.<\/p>\n

The album is packed full of intense thrashers of the highest order guaranteed to send every true metal fan into a crazed frenzy.<\/p>\n

My particular faves are the Exodus inspired \u2018Death Metal\u2019 and \u2018Witch Hunt\u2019, the two part instrumental \u2018Skullcrusher\u2019 and the ultra-speed metallized \u2018Steel Meets Steel\u2019 and \u2018The Devils Legion\u2019, with some amazing lead work from guitarist Nige Rockett who puts in a death defying display throughout.<\/p>\n

Already Onslaught have surpassed anything that the likes of Venom have put on vinyl, and without a doubt the band will become hugely popular within hardcore metal circles. Power From Hell<\/em> is an absolutely essential purchase.<\/p>\n
