As for the rest of the album, well, with a couple of exceptions it’s all fairly pedestrian hard rock, lacking that killer punch to put them up alongside with the best. I’ve no doubt songs like ‘In Need Of Love’ and ‘Rock Your Rocks’ go down a storm live, but on vinyl I’m afraid they sound pretty lame.

The two best cuts on the album, ‘Hellion’ and the almost excellent ‘One Way Or Another’, were both released on a single late last year, which suggests that maybe the band should have resisted the temptation to release a full length album until they had more equally as strong material. Still, let’s hope for better things from Hellion next time around.

Bernard Doe

Review taken from Metal Forces, Issue 4 (1984)

HELLIONDangerous Maneuvers Stampede (1984)Rating: 5/10 No, not that over-hyped L.A. band, this Hellion hail from New York.
